Market Trader - Market Regulations and Design Guide 2025/26 Consultation
Overview
Stockton-on-Tees Markets - Market Regulations and Design Guide 2025/26 Consultation
As part of Stockton-on-Tees Markets commitment to a high standard of market operations, the current Market Regulations and Design Guide (2015), has been reviewed and amended to reflect on the current market operational requirements.
Please find attached a hard copy of the proposed Market Regulation and Design Guide. Please speak to either Richard or Lewis if you would like to receive the regulations in a different format.
As part of the proposed regulations, a consultation process will take place to ensure all market traders understand the changes and that their views are considered.
Consultation period
The consultation period will last for 3 weeks commencing Monday 17 November and ending Sunday 7 December.
A series of drop-in sessions will be held to give traders the opportunity to complete the online form and discuss the new regulations with the market team.
- Billingham - Billingham Library – 17, 24 November and 1 December, from 2pm to 3pm
- Stockton – Enjoy Stockton – 19, 26 November and 3 December, from 2pm to 3pm
- Thornaby – Thornaby Library – 20, 27 November and 4 December, from 2pm to 3pm
- Stockton – Enjoy Stockton - 22, 29 November and 6 December, from 2pm to 3pm
What happens next
Following the conclusion of the consultation, the Town Centre Manager will write to all traders informing that the consultation period has finished. There will be a four-week period for the market team to review and respond to any comments raised and to make any amendments to the proposals.
The market team will send out the final document to traders in January/February 2026 with the new regulations coming into effect no later than 1 April 2026.
Thank you for your continued support to Stockton-on-Tees Markets and if there is anything you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me.
